Seed Project November 2025
Flask
Currently, there are, from their own seed, germinated Flasks of a Cymbidium Hybrid held by Justin, and also Flasks of Oncidium gardnerii x bifolium held by Martyn.
Excess Oncidium seeds were sent to Lynda Coles of the Welsh Orchid Study Group, who has also germinated these seeds.
A Flask of Phalaenopsis corningiana bought by Ray at the Rosemoor Show last month has been deflasked into Pots and is being grown on. I’m sure some seedlings will be available to members in the New Year.
Future Seed Sowing.
Ray has a seedpod of Phal lueddemannia to sow this month and at least nine other seedpods to sow between January and July.
Diane has a Seedpod of Phal Sogo Yukadian v3 ready to sow in December/January.
If you wish to see how it’s done, arrangements can be made.
If you wish to pollinate plants but are unsure how, please ask.
Do remember to record the Date of pollination and the names of the seed parent and the pod parent.
A Flasking Service is available ONLY to Society members. We sow the seeds, you look after your Flasks.
Other News.
Ray is currently working with Don Heys of the South West Orchid Society to set up a Seed Sowing Project there, and we look forward to exchanging seeds, Seedlings, and sharing information in the future.
This year saw our first registration with the RHS from seed….
Phalaenopsis ‘ Cornish Maid ‘… A few young plants will be available to Society members fairly soon.
Established seedlings will be listed here as and when available.
