Seed Project November 2025

February Update.

Very little can be done in this inclement Weather so a bit of experimentation is taking place. Some issues have been experienced with gas buildup in unvented Flasks so some adhesive Filters have been bought from a Mushroom Supplier and , so far, seem to work .Used in a Pressure Cooker and after two weeks no contamination in Flasks .So now seeds have been sown.

These Filters are only a few pence so worth a try. Also , on the same Site, found some containers with built in filters ...again these have Agar Medium now in them and no contamination so this could be another step forward.

A little research has been done into ' Stem propping ' and the first few now in Moss .We should know in a few weeks if this attempt has been successful. Don Heys of the SW Orchid Society is now sowing his first seeds , we wish him success , and look forward to more collabaration in the Future. We are passing on some spare seed.

A Flask of Phalaenopsis corningiana bought at Rosemoor Show in October has done well with 35 plants growing well in pots ,some now available to Society members . Anyone interested in participating in this Project , pollinating Blooms or just wanting to see how it's done then contact Ray .
