Seed Project November 2025

Spring Update.

I really shouldn't pollinate too many blooms !
I pollinate one year to sow the next The past few weeks I've looked at my 10 pods on Plants. One split before I found it,one turned out empty.Another had only a few seeds but 2 others were really full. Some spare seed is going to Don Heys of the SWOS for him to practice on.

So I've been busy .Since February I have sown 75 Flasks and ,so far, only 4 contaminated. An acceptable percentage. The experiment with vented Flasks has turned out ok so worth continuing. I still have 5 pods on Plants One or two Phal lueddemannia Flasks have germinated seed , but it took just over 2 months.Plus some Phal Sogo Yukidian ( a really large White developed for Showing) With small plants of Phals amboinensis, corningiana, pulchra ,lueddemannia and bellina coming along plus a few Cornish Maid hybrids I'm fast running out of space. Currently on plants are 2 pods of Phal Yukidian,1 pod of Phal hieroglyphica and 2 pods of Phal Samara ( violacea x bellina ) a lovely fragrant Primary Hybrid .They will be ready to sow in the next few weeks.

Also experimenting with Stem propping ...so far so good. Main aim for this year is to bring on my young plants of Phal marie, maculata and inscriptiosinensis , these are now rare, hard to find species and well worth attempting to propogate. Any Club members interested in propogating do talk with me.I only specialise in the small group of Polychilos Phals but happy to ' Flask' any seed you may have for you.
